This Katana is Mumei but has been attributed to Kanenobu who was in the Naoe Mino, Province. The founder of the Naoeshizu Tradition was Shizu kaneuji, who moved from the Yamato Province to Shizu, Mino Province during the late Kamakura Period. Later his disciples moved to the Naoe, Mino Province and were active during the Nambokutcho to early Muromachi Period. They are referred to as the Naoe shizu Tradition. The features of this Tradition are Nino with Soshu-den. This Blade is osuriage, shortened by about 10cm. The original length was more than 78cm (2.60 Shaku). This Katana shows the features of the Naoe shizu Tradition. It comes with an Uchigatana style Koshirae with a black lacquer Saya. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token in 2019. |
