Other Info
The theme of this Tsuba is Lion's Drop, Spare the rod and spoil the child. The sacred lion drops his children and raise only those who can climb back up. The Lion's drop means only the strong survive. It is a severe way to raise one's young. Katakiro bori technique was used to depict the theme of the Lion's drop. It shows a small part of the theme but tries to convey the overall message. The craftsman, Masanobu, was likely among the Mito Tradition active during the late Edo Period. It has passed the Hozon Shinsa applied in May 2023.
