The theme of this Tsuba is Water Flow and Sukashi, Parallelograms, and Small Rounds. The craftsman, Ietsugu, belonged to the Iyo-Shoami Tradition and was active during the Mid Edo Period in Iyo, Matsuyama Province. He signed his work using Tenka Chuko Kaizan; this term means "restoration of the tradition." He had much confidence to sign as the restorer of the Tradition. The design is unique with the Parallelograms and small Rounds. |
