The theme of this Tsuba is Vines. The craftsman, Kiyosada from Sendai, was a high rank craftsman. He was born in 1741 and initially was taught by his father, later moved to Edo and became a disciple of the Omori Tradition. In 1780s he returned to Sendai and became an official worker of the Date Clan with his father. By use of Sen-Zogan technique he created wonderful precise gold lines in his work to make his themes striking, such as in this item. It has passed Tokubetsu Hozon Shinsa in 2022. |
