Yoshishige was a swordsmith and a disciple of Ozaki Suketaka, a famous swordsmith. Yoshishige was born in Himeji, Harima Province and moved to Tsuyama, Mimasaka Province. This Tosho-tsuba was made by Yoshishige, a real swordsmith. It also has an inscription that it was made in February 1789, 228 years ago. The simple design is Udenuki-ana, two small Dew Drop holes. The holes were used for the wielder to tie the sword to his hand so he would not drop it. It passed the Hozon Shinsa in 2020. |
