This Wakizashi is Mumei but considering the features of the Hamon that has Hitatsura-ba and the high skill craftsmanship, it has been attributed to Hiromasa from Soshu by NBTHK issued in 1952 of Tokubetsu Kicho Token. Hiromasa was active during the early Muromachi Period in Soshu. He took over the Shosu Tradition that included famous swordsmiths such as Akihiro and Hiromitsu, who were both active during the Nanbokucho Period. This Wakizashi has flamboyant Hitatsura-ba Hamon that gives a dignified and unique impression. It has 5 rivet holes with 3 filled in. Two of the filled holes were filled in with gold. The registration was issued in 1951, the 26th year of Showa and the first year of the sword registration system. On the Shirasaya, there is information that it was polished and made a new saya in 1906, the 39th year of Meiji. This Wakizashi has an important place in history as a heritage treasure. It comes with a Wakizashi style Koshirae with a black lacquer Saya. It has passed the Hozon Token Shinsa in December 2023. |
