The fuchi depicts a Person and The kashira depicts Goddess Benzaiten and God Bishamonten (also known as Tamonten) . Both are among the Seven Lucky Gods, with Benzaiten bestowing blessings of music and eloquence, and Bishamonten of bravery and good fortune. This is probably a scene of someone who worships them and receives their protection. The author of this fuchi-kashira, Hirano Tomomitsu [平埜友光], was active in Mito during the late Edo period. He was born in Mito as the second son of Hirano Tomomichi [平埜友道] , whoes father Hirano Tomoharu [平埜友春] was a disciple of Ichiryu Tomoyoshi [一柳友善] and later Tomoharu established an independent branch family. The inscription ’Kinoene [甲子]' means the first year of the Bunka era (1804). |
