Other Info
The Saya-gata pattern is an auspicious motif symbolizing eternal prosperity and longevity for the household. It is formed by connecting diagonally distorted versions of the Buddhist auspicious symbol “Manji” (卍). For this reason, it is also called “Manji Distortion” (万字崩し) or “Manji Connection” (万字繋ぎ). This meticulously crafted fuchi-kashira features the Sayagata pattern engraved across its entire iron surface, with shakudo koberi rim and plain copper dōgane inner joined to form a ireko, nested structure.
