| Mino Province, located near Kyoto and serving as a key transportation hub, enjoyed favorable geographical conditions that fostered the development of metalworking techniques from early times. Its characteristic style features designs of plants and animals carved in relief by means of sukisage.Works produced prior to the Momoyama period are referred to as “Ko-Mino,” while those made thereafter are classified as “Mino.”This piece, a fuchi-kashira with an ivy arabesque design, has been attributed to Ko-Mino as an early work and passed Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in November last year. |
