Other Info
This is a fuchi-kashira set with a waterside mandarin duck motif.Mandarin ducks have long been favored as auspicious symbols of marital harmony. The design is executed on a high-quality shakudō ground with a deep, rich black patina. Using taka-suki-bori, inlay, and iroe, a pair of mandarin ducks is rendered in bold and elegant relief along the water’s edge.On the kashira, the male duck is depicted prominently and with great brilliance, while on the fuchi, the rear of the female duck is shown more subtly as she searches for food in the water. This contrast effectively conveys a serene and intimate waterside scene.
