The Fujishima Tradition moved from Echizen to the Kaga Province. It is said the founder of this Tradition Fujishima Tomoshige , first generation was a relative of Rai Kunitoshi or Sanekage. Tomoshige first generation was active during the early Nombokucho Period. The Tomoshige lineage continued until the Edo Period. The features of this Tradition are mixed with Bizen, Mino, and Soshu Tradition. This Katana shows these features well. Considering the short Nakago and the Mei, it was likley forged by the Fujishima Tomoshige who was active during the late Muromachi Period. The Nakago remains in a good condition with Mei, and has passed the Tokubtesu Hozon Token. |
