This swordsmith, Sasaki Minamoto Yoshimitsu, was active during the late Edo Period in Morioka, Mutsu Province and learned forging from his father who was, Sasaki Yoshitsugu who was born in Hachinohe and moved to Edo and studied forging skills from Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi, seventh generation. Later he moved to Morioka. Sasaki Yoshimitsu was a Samurai of Morioka Clan in Oshu. This long Katana comes with a Uchigatana style Koshirae with an Koshi Ishimeji black lacquer Saya. |
