Ezo koshirae/sword mountings refer to mountings for the Ainu's swords made in mainland Japan and sent to Ezo, currently Hokkaido as trade goods. The tsuka/handles were unwrapped in thread and lack tsuba. Most were entirely wrapped in silver, tighten with rings. This work is also an Ezo koshirae/sword mountings, crafted entirely with silver and displaying the Hanabishi crests on both sides. It lacks mekugi-ana/hole. It is an exceptionally well-preserved Ezo koshirae/sowrd mountings. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Toso shinsa in May 2025. |
