Awa Province, which faces Osaka across the sea, was ruled by the Hachisuka family throughout the Edo period and was a strategic key point on the Seto Inland Sea to exert presser Shikoku and the Chugoku region. Awa matchlock gun, like this one, tend to be relatively long, likely because they were used at sea. This Awa tube is purely practical, with no decorations. It is in good condition and the karakuri mechanism works properly. |
