It is also considered prolific, bringing prosperity. This kogai depicts a wild boar sleeping peacefully, yet masterfully conveys its mighty fierce. The artist, Hidemasa [英政], has multiple namesake, making identification difficult. However, the dignified engraved signature and the condition of nanako pattern surface that has passed through the ages suggest it was the work of a skilled artisan from at least the mid-Edo period. |
