The theme of this Kozuka is Cherry Blossom Tree at the Torii Gate. The 16th Goto Soke, Mitsuaki Houjo, attributed this to Teijo, the 9th Soke of the Goto Tradition as engraved on the backside. Additionally, Teijo passed away in 1673 and the age of 71, in the early Edo Period. Mitsuaki passed away in 1856 at the age of 41, in the late Edo Period. This impressive Kozuka has passed the Hozon Tosogu Shinsa. |
