In Japan, March 3 is a celebration for girl's day. It is called "Hinamatsuri." This Kozuka depicts peach tree branch and clams. On that day the peach tree blossoms and the clam soup is eaten. This is a matching pair of the celebration. When they eat the clam soup, they are hoping to meet a good partner in the future. The craftsman, Kikuoka Mitsumasa, was a disciple of Yanagawa Naomitsu, who was the 3rd generation of the Yanagawa Family. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu in 2019. |
