This set of menuki depicts mounted warriors fighting, splashing waves. The Omote Menuki holding a baton of command and the Ura Menuki holding a naginata are likely scenes from the Genpei War. The set of Menuki is twice as large as the normal one, and the expression on each face shows tension. It was presumed to have made by a metal craftsman from Mito and has passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in February 2025. |
