Other Info
Chrysanthemums symbolize longevity and prosperity and have long been regarded as auspicious motifs. From ancient times they were adopted by the aristocracy and the Imperial family as crests, and were also widely used in sword fittings as refined decorative elements that enhanced the aesthetic sensibilities of the samurai. This work features a design of seven chrysanthemums of varying forms arranged together. A dignified yet splendid Kikka-zukushi (all-over chrysanthemum) motif, executed as menuki in solid gold. Attributed to the Mito school and awarded Hozon Tōsōgu certification in 2012.
