| This pair of menuki, depicting three Sacred Lions, was attributed to the Kyo-kinko school by the NBTHK shinsa. Although not considered a work of the main Gotō family, it was most likely made by one of the Wakigotō branches. Executed in solid gold, the figures are compact yet powerfully composed, displaying refined katachi-bori carving and excellent craftsmanship. Judging from their style and workmanship, these menuki are considered to date from the early Edo period. It has passed the NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in February 2026. |
