| The Amaryū is a sacred dragon believed to govern the rain that brings blessings to the earth. It is characterized by its lack of scales and is also known as a chiryū, an immature form of the dragon. This pair of copper menuki depicts Amaryū in katachi-bori. Judging from the style and workmanship, they are thought to be the work of a Mito metalworker. |
