| This piece is a large kogatana by Enju Nobutsugu, preserved in shirasaya, with a gunome-midare hamon.Enju Nobutsugu, whose real name was Tanigawa Hiromitsu, was born in 1948 (Shōwa 23) and lived in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture. He was the eldest son of the mukansa swordsmith Tanigawa Moriyoshi and trained under his father. He received numerous awards, including the Kansan Prize, the Kunzan Prize, and Excellence Awards, and was regarded as a highly promising swordsmith; however, his early death at the age of 50 in 1998 (Heisei 10) was deeply regretted. |
