| Swordsmith Fujiyasu Shōhei was born in November 1946 (currently 79 years old) in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, and studied under Miyairi Akihira. He has received numerous awards, including the NBTHK Chairman’s Award, the Kanzan Award, three Excellence Awards, six Encouragement Awards, and seven Merit Awards. The inscription carved on the blade, “Shirakumo to mine ni wa miete sakurabana,” may be interpreted as expressing the scene of cherry blossoms blooming on mountain peaks appearing like white clouds in the distance. This work features a tightly forged jihada and a deeply tempered notare hamon. The beautifully and fluently carved verse enhances the elegance and dignity of the piece, making this an outstanding work by Fujiyasu Shōhei. |
