| This is a hira-zukuri tantō signed Kanetoyo. The nakago is in good condition, finished with higaki yasurime. The hamon shows a richly varied gunome midare, characteristic of Sue-Seki tantō. From its workmanship, it is considered to be in the Kanefusa lineage, dating to around the Tenbun era. There is slight wear from polishing at the machi area near the base of the blade, which is consistent with its age. The tantō is accompanied by a koshirae with a glossy brown ishime-finish saya.It passed the NBTHK Hozon Tōken shinsa in 2025. |
