| Toda Hikozaemon [戸田彦左衛門] was one of the leading craftsmen during Edo period in Owari. He is known for his many small openworks and Amida files. This tsuba has fine Amida files and neat uchikaeshi-mimi. The refined iron features small openwork with plum blossoms and ivy motifs. Plum blossom herald the arrival of spring, and ivy, with its spreading tendrils, represents prosperity. This is a simple yet elegant tsuba. It passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2024. |
