| Grapes (budō) were favored by samurai as an auspicious motif, playing on the homonym with “budō” (the martial way). This tsuba is a Heianjō zōgan work, boldly inlaid in brass with a grape design, further enhanced with kebori engraving and fitted with a brass fukurin rim. It is of large size and in remarkably fine condition. Accompanied by a 1968 Tokubetsu Kichō Kodōgu certificate. |
