| This tsuba with peony and shishi lion design is identified as a work of Okada Masachika from the signature “Shōnai-jū” and the accompanying kao. Masachika was the son of Okada Masakuni, a metalworker of the Shōnai domain, and left dated works from the Ansei era of the late Edo period.This work is constructed in three-piece brass with a polished surface, and the peony and shishi lion are expressed through refined katakiribori engraving.Passed the 2025 Hozon Tosogu shinsa. |
