| The pine, an evergreen that remains vigorous even through winter, has long been regarded in Japan as a symbol of longevity. Bamboo, which grows quickly and bends without breaking, symbolizes vitality, resilience, and steady growth. This tsuba depicts an auspicious design of pine accompanied by sasa bamboo. The shakudō nanako-ji is finely executed and framed with a gold fukurin. The skillful use of gold-dominant iroe and zōgan decoration has led the NBTHK to attribute this work to the Kaga Kinkō school. A stately and elegant tsuba, distinguished by its rich decoration and refined craftsmanship. Passed the NBTHK Hozon Tosogu shinsa in February 2026. |
