Other Info
This tsuba is fashioned from a large, well-forged iron plate with a finely executed rope-pattern rim. The Chigai-kaku Mon is rendered beside the hitsu-ana in sukisage-bori and delicate openwork, while its outline is elegantly embellished with gold iroe scrollwork. The bold geometric form of the Chigai-kaku Mon harmonizes beautifully with the graceful curves of the gold decoration, creating a design of refined dignity and elegance. Although firmly rooted in the traditional Shoami style, the composition also reveals a distinctive originality. It was attributed to Akita Shoami and passed the NBTHK Hozon Tosogu shinsa in February 2026.
