| An unsigned tsuba depicting surging waves, probably the work of a Ko-Kinko craftsman. The mokko-shaped shakudo ground is finely carved on both sides with layers of overlapping waves. Crests rise here and there amid flowing lines, skillfully conveying the movement of the sea. The interior of the large kozuka-hitsu-ana is gold-plated, providing an elegant golden accent against the dark-toned shakudo ground. While representative of the typical workmanship of Ko-Kinko hamidashi tsuba, it remains in good condition and offers an appealing sense of antique elegance. |
