Other Info
A bukan was a practical annual reference book published during the Edo period, listing the names, stipends, rice revenues (kokudaka), and family crests of daimyo and shogunate officials. Among Heianjo-zogan tsuba, those featuring openwork designs together with arabesque patterns are known as Bukan-sukashi tsuba. This tsuba features a Bukan-sukashi design with eight similar yet distinct floral crests executed in brass inlay. The tsuba is in excellent condition, with only minimal loss of brass inlay. It is accompanied by an old NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Kodogu certificate issued in 1960 (Showa 35), attributing the work to Yoshiro.
