| This tsuba depicts a flock of wild geese flying through the rain, skillfully rendered in three-dimensional openwork carving on an iron ground. Numerous geese with outstretched wings are carved in relief, flying in different directions. Their heads and feathers are intricately detailed, while fine straight lines highlighted in gold iroe represent the falling rain. The tightly forged iron, skillful openwork carving, and intricate yet refined composition suggest that this tsuba is probably the work of the Bushu Ito school. This finely crafted tsuba beautifully captures the dynamic movement of the flock and the atmospheric scene of wild geese flying through the rain. |
