According to the directory of Nihonto-meikan [日本刀名鑑], Hisaie [久家] was active during Oei era, Muromachi period in Etchu Province, inscribed "Hisaie" or "Uta Hisaie" and left behind a work dated Oei 30, 1423. In the Muromachi period, there were Uta swordsmiths used the "Hisa [久]", such as Hisakuni [久国], Hisashige [久重], Hisatomi [久富], and Hisanori [久則]. This wakizashi is likely Uta, based on its workmanship and style, as well as its registration with Toyama Prefecture in Showa 26, 1951. The blade is in good condition and is well made. It comes with a Handachi style koshirae with a dark brown hammered lacquer sheath. It has passed the Hozon Token shinsa in 2015. |
