| Based on the characteristics of the chrysanthemum crest and the signature, this blade is attributed, as stated in the certificate, to the third generation Etchū no Kami Masatoshi. The first generation did not carve a chrysanthemum crest. From the second generation onward, a sixteen-petal chrysanthemum crest was used. In the second generation’s crest, the center is filled with a fine lattice pattern, while in the third generation’s crest, the center is plain and round without the lattice design. The third generation Masatoshi was the son of the second generation and, like his father and grandfather, received the title of Etchū no Kami. He signed his works with the chrysanthemum crest followed by the five-character signature “Etchū no Kami Masatoshi.”This is a fine work by the third generation Etchū no Kami Masatoshi. This blade passed the 2025 Hozon Token shinsa. |
