This swordsmith, Shohoken Yoshiyuki, was the son of Yamazaki Yoshihiro from Izumo Province. Shohoken was adopted by the swordsmith, Shimizu Masayoshi from Yonago. Later Shohoken moved to the city of Osaka where he learned Bizen-den. Sometime after, he moved back to Izumo where he became an official worker of the Izumo Province. He passed away in 1886 at the age of 75-year-olds. This Katana has a length of 2.47 Shaku, a very long blade with a beautiful shape. The Kitae is Koitame and the Hamon is Gunome-midare with Konie and Ashi. The Boshi is Midare Komaru and the Nakago is Reversed Sujikai file pattern with Kessho pattern. It remains one of the masterpieces of Shohoken Yoshiyuki and has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in June of 2018. |
