This Katana was forged by Norimitsu. Norimitsu is a lineage in Osafune, Bizen from the Nambokucho Period to the Muromachi Period. Norimitsu is a famous lineage such as Katsumitsu, Munemitsu, Tadamistu, and Sukesda. Judging from the features of the Mei, and being forged in 1503, this Norimitsu should be Saemon No Jo Norimitsu, the sixth generation. This Katana has the engraving of Futasuji-hi on each side. It was originally engraved Futasuji-hi when the sword with forged. There were many engravings that were done later after the blades were made. The slight Midare Utsuri are visible. The flamboyant Gunome Choji Hamon is attractive. It comes with an Uchigatana style Koshirae with a Raden-nuri/mother-of-pearl work Saya. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in 2021. |
