Other Info
This Nagahiro [長廣] belongs to the Mino Senjuin [美濃千手院] school. The Mino Senjuin school originated when Kuninaga [国長] of the Yamato Senjuin [大和千手院] school relocated to Akasaka in Fuwa District, Mino Province during the Nanbokucho period, and the school continued until the mid-Muromachi period. The style follows the Yamato tradition within Mino swords. Nagahiro continued three generations: the first (Kansei era, 1460-1465), the second (around the Bungeki era, 1501-1504), and the third generation (around 1521-1527, Daiei era). While the specific generation of this katana, inscribed with the two-character name Nagahiro [長廣], is not clearly discernible, the style of hamon, Kata-sujikai file pattern, and the haagari-kurijiri end indicate it is a Mino Senju-in Nagahiro. The blade length is 2 shaku 4 sun 1 bu (approximately 73.6 cm), with an extended kissaki, a robust shape with a strong curvature, presenting a bold and imposing form. It passed the Hozon Token shinsa in 2011. It comes with an uchigatana koshirae with a Kin-mushikui-nuri saya.
