| Kazusa no Kami Kaneshige (the same individual as Kazusa no Suke Kaneshige) was the son of the first-generation Kaneshige (Izumi no Kami Kaneshige). Collaborative works with the third-generation Yasutsugu and Hōjōji Masateru are known. His style closely resembles that of his fellow disciple, who is said to have been Kotetsu; consequently, it is said that some of his works were altered to bear a Kotetsu signature.This blade displays characteristics reminiscent of Nagasone Okisato Kotetsu. However, it lacks a straight yakidashi at the base, and no trace of tekogane-like marks can be observed near the habaki-moto. Furthermore, one of the distinctive features of Kazusa no Suke Kaneshige—the partially repeating gunome pattern fired in a regular “one-two, one-two” rhythm—is clearly evident.Dated works by Kazusa no Suke Kaneshige are scarce, and examples bearing a date inscription on the ura (reverse side) are particularly valuable.This sword is an excellent example published in the Yūshū Tō Zuroku (2015, Nihon Token Hozon Kai) and passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in 2021. |
