Kiyomitsu [清光] was a swordsmith from Osafune, Bizen Province, in the late Muromachi period. There are many swordsmiths with the same name during late Muromachi Period, so called Sue-bizen, but Gorozaemon no Jo [五郎左衛門尉](around Tenbun), Magoemon no Jo [孫右衛門尉] (around Eiroku), and Gengoro [源五郎] (around Koji) are outstanding. Kiyomitsu during the Tensho era (1573-1592)include Shinjuro [新拾郎] Kiyomitsu, Magobei [孫兵衛] Kiyomitsu, Shichiroemon [七郎衛門] Kiyomitsu, and Yaemon [弥右衛門] Kiyomitsu, making it difficult to identify the correct one. This tanto is a sharp shape with the Naginata-naoshi style. It comes with an Aikuchi tanto Koshirae consisting of a black lacquer Saya. |
