| This work is an iron plate tsuba with small sukashi openings forming a pair of folding screens. The screens are decorated with paulownia crest arabesques, hydrangea, bellflower, and bush clover rendered in gold nunome-zōgan. The area along the rim is bordered with wave patterns in gold nunome-zōgan, while the side surface of the rim shines with a rich golden finish. A splendid and highly decorative Kyō-Kenjō tsuba in exceptionally fine condition. |
