Other Info
Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke II was the son of Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke I. Kunisuke I and Oyakunisada (the first generation Izumi no Kami Kunisada) belonged to the same school and are said to have studied under Kunitomo. He is regarded as a representative Osaka Shinto swordsmith of the Kanbun era and is commonly referred to as Naka-Kawachi.This wakizashi shows a typical sugata with shallow curvature, a medium kissaki, wide mihaba, and thick kasane. The jigane is a well-forged ko-itame hada with prominent ara-nie. The hamon begins with an Osaka-style yakidashi and develops into a flamboyant and distinctive kobushi-choji midare. The boshi is straight and turns back in a small komaru. The nakago is ubu with ō-sujikai yasurime, tapering to a ha-agari kurijiri.Blade length: 1 shaku 8 sun 1 bu.A healthy example of Naka-Kawachi.This blade passed the NBTHK Hozon Token shinsa in 2014 and is accompanied by a wakizashi koshirae with a kuro-ro nuri saya.
